About

Welcome to the new TCU Center for Urban Studies website! The Center is a new, cross-disciplinary initiative in AddRan College of Liberal Arts at TCU. Our main goals for the Center are as follows:

  • To promote Texas Christian University-based research and education on cities and metropolitan areas. Faculty affiliated with the Center conduct research on a wide range of urban topics, including labor markets, race relations, policing, immigration, demographics, public health, and more. Additionally, students in our courses gain the conceptual, analytical and technical skills that help them understand the multifaceted nature of urban regions and prepare them for a competitive job market. I encourage you to view our Research and Academic Programs pages to learn more about the Center’s activities at TCU.
  • To engage with the community around critical urban issues. We are located at an urban university in one of the largest and fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. In turn, we take seriously our mission to pursue programs that are relevant to Fort Worth and North Texas. Our blog, written by Center-affiliated faculty and students, will include public-interest stories and commentaries on key issues facing our community. Please take a look at our first post, which covers our interactive map of building ages in Fort Worth. In the future, we plan to host public workshops and community forums, and form research and internship partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

Thank you for visiting our site – we are very excited about what lies ahead for the Center!
